Make Your Own Ice Cream

After sharing some ice cream party inspiration earlier this week I wanted to share a special treat with you today. Making your own ice cream is a fun activity for kids (and adults!) of any age.

You Will Need:

Gallon size Freezer bags
Towels (it gets COLD!)
Ice
Ice cream salt (sold in the grocery store)
Quart size Freezer bags
Heavy cream
Sugar
Vanilla
Chocolate syrup (optional)
Mix-ins (candies, etc.)
Spoons!

Directions:

In small freezer bags mix:
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or squeeze in some chocolate syrup

Seal tightly! *You can do this step before the party.

Fill each gallon sized freezer bag half full with ice and add 1/2 cup ice cream salt. *You can fill bags with ice before the party and just a

Place smaller bag inside the larger bag and seal tightly.

Wrap in a towel and shake, shake, shake for 7 minutes! The salt makes the ice even colder which can hurt little hands when holding tight for seven minutes so please cover with a towel as a precaution.

*You can also use a large tin coffee can in place of the gallon size freezer bag and duct tape it closed. Let the kids play some soccer with it

Take out the smaller bag, add your mix-ins and EAT!
